This false report accuses the Executive of “having intensified its offensive” against Salinas Pliego through judicial resolutions, administrative actions and “coordinated radical communication”, which, supposedly, can generate erosion in the rule of law, “perception of political persecution” and economic instability.
According to the apocryphal document, the most likely scenario is that the conflict between the Mexican Government and Grupo Salinas extends with legal battles and continued media exposure, which can lead to the “gradual deterioration of the perception of national risk.”
Finally, the text included several recommendations for the Trump administration, such as “evaluate the exposure of US companies to Grupo Salinas,” continue monitoring judicial and administrative decisions, as well as “reinforce diplomatic messages with an emphasis on transparency, judicial independence, and commitment to the rule of law.”
It is worth mentioning that the false confidential memorandum, denied by the US Embassy, was removed from the original publication made on networks, which had been shared by an account known to be related to Salinas Pliego.
